The Coach House
Lovingly renovated by Danielle and Brad Symes, this 1870 character cottage set in the Adelaide Hills was devotedly preserved in its heritage as one of the oldest homes in Adelaide. The essence of the original ‘Coach House’ was retained, with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring the integrity of the home was honored. Inspired by the character of the home and European design aesthetics, the renovation sought to enhance functionality while maintaining it’s authenticity.

Neutral tones were used throughout the home, allowing the architectural elements and curated furnishings to be focal points of the space. Warm whites and contrasting trims complement the natural stone, rustic beams, and aged timber floors. The heart of the home, the kitchen, boasts custom-made cabinetry accented by TradCo’s sympathetic unlacquered brass cupboard knobs, creating a blend of old-world charm and contemporary touches.
Tradco hardware was chosen for its quality and ability to seamlessly integrate into the minimalist country renovation. Antique brass finishes were selected to develop a rich patina over time, adding to the home’s story.
As renovations continue, the cottage remains a labor of love, a place where memories are made and cherished. The idyllic lifestyle it affords, from leisurely walks to harvesting homegrown produce, fosters a deep connection to the surrounding community and the heritage of the home.
Through thoughtful enhancements and the distinctive touch of Tradco hardware, this timeless sanctuary continues to inspire and honor the legacy of its past while embracing the joys of family life for generations to come.
